A-CHA Mission Statement

The Mission of every member of the American Clinical Hypnotists Association (A-CHA) are to honor A-CHA Code of Ethics and quality principles to create a high level of ethical conduct between every hypnotist, in every session, and to provide a reputable standard with clients, colleagues, allied professions, groups, lectures and every individual member of the public served.

Further A-CHA members pledge to be a good citizen and a humanitarian, and carry forth their standards and ethics in their own communities to support and lift their community.

A-CHA Values & Professional Intention

  1. Every hypnotist pledges to have the highest and good intention—in every session.
  2. Hypnotists agree to honor and respect every individual client.
  3. Hypnotists agree not to judge or harm any client.
  4. The hypnotist agrees it is their professional responsibility to never exploit a client for selfish purpose to serve the hypnotist’s personal needs.
  5. The principal objective of the hypnotherapy session is to provide hypnosis and coaching services to improve every individual client’s life.
  6. Every session is done with utmost respect, service, and consideration to consideration to the client.
  7. Hypnotist will not provide a service to a client outside of their specialty areas of training.

A-CHA Values & Personal Intention

  1. The principal objective of the hypnotism profession is to render service to humanity with full respect for the dignity of man. Hypnotists should merit the confidence of clients, rendering to each a full measure of services and devotion.
  2. The client may place his/her trust in his/her hypnotist, knowing that the hypnotist’s ethics and professional responsibilities preclude him/her from gratifying his/her own needs by exploiting the client. This becomes particularly important because of the essentially private, highly personal and sometimes intensely emotional nature of the relationship established with the hypnotist.
  3. The requirement that the professional member “conduct himself with propriety in his profession and in all the actions of his life” is especially important in the case of the hypnotherapists because the patient/client tends to model his/her behavior after that of his/her hypnotherapist by identification.
  4. Sexual activity with a client is unethical and automatic grounds for disciplinary action by the Board.
  5. The professional member should diligently guard against exploiting information furnished by the client and should not use the unique position of influence afforded him/her by the hypnotic situation to influence the clients in any way not directly relevant to the client’s expressed goals.
  6. Professional members generally agree that the hypnotist-client relationship is such an indispensable factor in effective service to the client that preservation of optimal conditions for development of a sound working relationship between a hypnotist and his/her client should take precedence over all other considerations.

A-CHA Values & Community Intention

  1. In case of traumatic event in an A-CHA hypnotist’s community, A-CHA hypnotist will volunteer to provide service to community in possibilities with victims, survivors, or those in community fearful from the event. Local A-CHA members agree to connect together to form a hypnotist triage to assist others whenever possible.
  2. When possible, or on occasion, A-CHA hypnotist will agree to provide free or sliding scale rates to someone in need of services. The purpose is to help a person in need to heal and lift themselves.
